StrongFirst Tactical Strength Challenge

On 28th October 2017 Unique Results will be one of 120 locations worldwide hosting the Strongfirst Tactical Strength Challenge (or TSC).

We will be encouraging a number of our own members to register as well as welcoming others from surrounding areas who can sign up to complete the challenge at our venue. The event will take place from 2pm onwards when the studio will be finished with our regular classes and sessions. Afterwards, we are planning on a couple of drinks and some food in a local pub/restaurant TBC.

Registration is $30 and includes a FREE TSC T-shirt when registering before 15th August.

The Tactical Strength Challenge (TSC) is a strength challenge consisting of three events: a three-attempt powerlifting deadlift (for a 1RM), one set of pull-ups for max reps (or a flexed arm hang for certain categories), and kettlebell snatches for max reps in a 5:00 time period (weights vary depending on category entered).

These three events test a unique trade-off between these abilities, and while larger participants may have an advantage in the deadlift, lighter participants have an advantage in pull-ups, and the kettlebell snatch tests all participants equally. You must complete the event on October 28th at one of our pre-approved TSC host facility locations (of which Unique Results is one).

 

 

Women’s Event Divisions/Categories

Women’s Novice – A max deadlift, flexed arm hang, and snatches with a 12kg kettlebell
Women’s Novice (16kg KB) – A max deadlift, flexed arm hang, and snatches with a 16kg kettlebell
Women’s Open – A max deadlift, bodyweight pullups, and snatches with a 16kg kettlebell
Women’s Open (12kg KB) – A max deadlift, bodyweight pullups, and snatches with a 12kg kettlebell
Women’s Elite – A max deadlift, pullups with 5kg of added weight (11 lbs), and snatches with a 20kg kettlebell
Women’s Masters (ages 50 and older) – A max deadlift, bodyweight pullups, and snatches with a 12kg kettlebell

Men’s Novice – A max deadlift, bodyweight pullups, and snatches with a 20kg kettlebell
Men’s Open – A max deadlift, bodyweight pullups, and snatches with a 24kg kettlebell
Men’s Elite – A max deadlift, pullups with 10kg of added weight (22 lbs), and snatches with a 32kg kettlebell
Men’s Masters (ages 50 and older) – A max deadlift, bodyweight pullups, and snatches with a 20kg kettlebell

The rules are simple, the training is hard, but the opportunity to say you completed the Tactical Strength Challenge makes it all worthwhile.

This will be a fun (but challenging) afternoon which I’m sure will bring out the very best in everyone who participates. The TSC is held twice a year (spring and autumn) so the goal will be to host this event every 6 months and then for the participants to improve their own individual performances each time e.g. heavier deadlift, more pull-ups (or longer flexed arm hang) and more snatches completed in 5 minutes.
